How do I use Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen?

Applying Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen: Children over the age of 6 months and anyone who will be exposed to sunlight should use sunscreen.

Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen is perfect for daily use and for anyone spending time in the sun, including pregnant women, children over 6 months, and anyone with sensitive skin. Please note that use of sunscreen on children younger than 6 months of age requires a doctor’s prescription. This is true for ALL brands.

Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen is a physical sunscreen which means it works immediately upon application. It is not necessary to apply 30 minutes before you are exposed to sunlight as is the case with chemical sunscreens. Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen is classified as water resistant (80 minutes), which is the highest rating as proposed by the FDA’s 2012 Monograph. It will maintain its SPF after 80 minutes of water immersion. The Environmental Working Group and the FDA recommend reapplying sunscreen every two hours.

Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreens are perfect for sensitive skin. We recommend testing on a small area of the body to ensure that you don’t have any sensitivities. Sunscreens that claim to be hypo-allergenic are nothing more than marketing hype in our opinion. As the population’s exposure to chemicals has risen, there has been a direct correlation to things that people become allergic to. Simply google environmental exposure and allergies to view some of this research.

Tips for Application

Thinkbaby and Thinksport formula applies easily and absorbs quickly. Be sure to apply all areas that will be exposed to sunlight, including behind the ears, neck, hands, feet, and scalp. Reapply every two hours or more as needed. While the sunscreen applies very easily, we recommend not spreading it too thin. Otherwise, you will decrease the effectiveness of the sunscreen. Keep in mind that physical sunscreens work by reflecting sunlight.

A Word From Our Founder

Thinkbaby and Thinksport’s founder, Kevin Brodwick brought his interest in health and preventative medicine and his background in biotechnology together to form a company whose sole purpose is to create alternative products for little ones to adults.

With a team of physicians and scientists focused on the latest chemical and biological science, Thinkbaby and Thinksport continue to lead in the usage of safe materials for consumer products. Our efforts are further energized by working with both our leading child advocacy partners and like-minded individuals who seek alternative products.

“It became clear during my work within a biological testing lab (non-animal) that products on the market were fraught with issues. It didn’t matter if the product was made in China, the US or Switzerland, there were chemicals leaching that had the potential to cause endocrine disruption, cancer and reproductive harm. It also became quickly clear that government regulation was not on the near horizon. So Thinkbaby and Thinksport set off to create alternatives. The company first identified baby bottle, as 95% of the bottles on the market were composed of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that is suspected to disrupt the endocrine system. We then proceeded to target other products within the baby feeding realm and were led by parents to design a sports bottle. Thinkbaby and Thinksport approaches each product category with the same criteria. Safe. Functional. Sustainable.

The first line in the sand that we draw surrounds material safety. We don’t jump on new materials just because they are free of one chemical. The reason is that the potential for landing on some other potentially harmful chemical exists. Instead, we stay keenly focused on the latest emerging studies. We should also add that we understand the difference from valid science and industry-funded science. We won’t work with scientists or doctors that endorse specific products. You can buy doctors like that anywhere, and its bad medicine in our opinion.

We then ask is the product functional? We don’t want to create the same old tired thing in the marketplace. For example, look at the surplus of single-walled sports bottles in the market. While they have potential to be safe, you can’t cold fill them or hot fill them. We could create a really safe metal box, but why? So we look at problems within a category and look to improve upon the category. We also put economical into the functional category. The goal is to have a product that is pocket book friendly, it doesn’t make sense for us to produce product that only a few affluent individuals can afford. If we are going to help the world, we need to make sure that the world can obtain safe solutions.

And finally we look to make our products sustainable. And we do this in two ways. Either the product needs to have an extremely long use life or it needs to be recyclable. The truth though is that we try to do both. Our baby bottle line can be transformed into our award winning sippy cup. This ability alone allows a parent to save their 8-10 bottles and use them for at least another year. This saves both parents’ money, but more importantly it saves the environment from excess waste. All of the baby bottles are made from No. 5 plastic and can be recycled. When we built our Complete BPA Free Feeding Set, we lined the products with stainless steel. They not only last the first child’s use, but the second. And we always hear from parents how much they love using them.

Our mission as a company is to provide safe consumer products. We don’t wait for a material to make headline news in order to make a change. We will continue to expand our products suite to offer alternatives to existing products on the market. We hear more and more folks refer to us as a lifestyle brand focused on safe products and that truly is the goal.”

Addressing the growing concern of harmful chemicals leaching from consumer products through the development of alternative products.

We are guided by the Precautionary Principle for everything that we build. With over a decade of leadership in product safety, Thinkbaby Thinksport works with leading institutions and scientists to develop products. We don’t jump on an ingredient or material, just because it is free of another ingredient. It is imperative to us that our products are safe to make, safe to use and do not harm the environment. We continue to expand our focus by targeting products of concern.

Nobody wants to buy something that is just safe. You want products that are rich in function. In our process of building solutions, we are continually looking for ways to innovate products. As an example, we pioneered the ability to transform from baby bottle to sippy cup to straw bottle. This not only save parents money, but also reduces environmental impact.

In selecting our materials, Thinkbaby Thinksport produces products that have very long lifecycles and passed along to the next little one. We also select materials that can be recycled, including our packaging. Thinkbaby Thinksport has never used plastic packaging. We are commited to further addressing the impact of consumer products on the environment. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

Thinkbaby and Thinksport sunscreen sticks come in an 18.4g stick made of environmentally friendly packaging that does not contain BPA, vinyl, or phthalates. The packaging and contents are environmentally safe. Each stick is marked with an expiration date. Note: The base formulations of our sunscreens are identical. We set out to make the most effective safe sunscreen possible. It didn’t make sense to make one safe for babies, and a harmful version for adults. While this seems obvious, you should check out what the major brands are doing.Compare your sunscreen’s “safe” ingredients to ours. The best way is to check out The Environmental Working Group’s database Skin Deep: The ratings for each ingredient are listed separately below. Our sun care products have been “1” rated since 2010!
